Well, I'm doing it... again. Moving. I never heard back from my friends about the place at the castle. So, some friends have a house here in town and I'm moving in there. Yeah for roommates! I've gotten back with Chiropractics. I'm never going back to Physical Therapy if I can help it. The Chiropractics works a million times better and gives me actual relief without drugs. Always important!! As for now, it's Mother's Day and in between spending time with my Mom and visiting Grandma B. in the hospital I will be going to (what is now) my old apartment and putting the smack-down on as far as cleaning and packing. Gonna have Bob help me move a few things - like the Big @$$ TV. I am already sleeping at the new place and don't like leaving that there. The old apartment isn't in the greatest neighborhood.
I'm still wanting to see Star Trek. I haven't made it out yet. I might try to go and see that sometime this week. The boss lady has the office shut down on Thursday & Friday as she is going out of town. Maybe I'll do it then.
I'm only 8 pounds away from my goal weight. I've been having problems since about mid-January with keeping my blood sugar stable. Only, instead of spiking really high, it's dropping really low. When it started doing that I plateaued weight-wise. But it's coming down again. My doctor discovered that my body isn't getting & storing enough vitamin D so I'm on a massive suppliment for that. I'm still waiting to see how my health improves w/ enough D in the ole bod. I'm no longer on Lyrica (the pain management drug). What isn't being taken care of through Chiropractics I'm just dealing with on my own. All in all, life's moseying along at a fairly good pace.
Oh, and I have taken up Archery. I am surprised at how much I really enjoy that. I'm by no means proficient yet but improving in leaps and bounds. Who knows, maybe I'll go really crazy and compete...

Writer's Block: End of the World as We Know It

Robert Frost speculated about the world ending in fire or in ice. Which do you think is likely to end us all: meteorite, global warming, nuclear weapons, zombies, or the superflu?

I don't really go for the whole doomsday scenario however it may play out. But if something were to "end it all" my vote would go to Stupid Human Tricks.

Nothing kills quite like stupidity.

Rainy Day

I get a daily email called Cosmic Calendar. It's informative. Here's todays:

The month of May 2009 begins with some tension as well as determination since the Sun and Moon are in fixed, power signs (Taurus and Leo). Their clash via a 90-degree arc in the zodiac is otherwise known as the First Quarter Sun-Moon Phase (activating 12 degrees of Taurus and Leo at 1:45PM PDT). Of the four main solar-lunar phases - New, First Quarter, Full and Last Quarter - the two quarter moon cycles are given less weight and significance than the New Moon and the Full Moon. After all, you cannot really have an eclipse of the Sun or Moon unless a New Moon or Full Moon is happening. Plus - New and Full Moons have various myths and symbols associated with them through the ages and within almost all cultures and societies. Therefore, to most people - whether they are into astrology or not - the quarter moon time-period does not seem all that important. Nevertheless, in astrology the exact moment of any alignment can be either a golden opportunity for forward progress or the trigger point for some kind of setback. Around today's First Quarter Sun-Moon experience, you want to cut through obstacles in your path, manage your life and business affairs with greater finesse, and stay on target with key goals and plans. Projecting anger onto well-meaning friends and dear ones is taboo. Let the warmth and heart-centered vibrations that are part of the essence of Leo come into your life through the Moon's dynamic presence. As the Sun sets today - everywhere in the world - the Moon will still be overhead and capable of energizing your most beloved arts, crafts and hobbies. Storm warnings are posted regarding romance tonight as Venus in Aries approaches a sharp square to Pluto in Capricorn. Their precise encounter occurs at 10:07AM PDT tomorrow. Vanquish stress concerning money matters and love ties overnight as a prelude to Saturday's extreme Venus-Pluto clash.

Deepak Chopra writes:

You are dying at every moment so that you can keep creating yourself.

You are not in the world; the world is in you. This, the main tenet of the one reality, also means that you are not in your body; your body is in you. You are not in your mind; your mind is in you.

There is no place in the brain where a person can be found. Your brain consumes not one molecule of glucose to maintain your sense of self, despite the millions of synaptic bursts that sustain all the things that self is doing in the world.

So when we say that the soul leaves a person’s body at the moment of death, it would be more correct to say that the body leaves the soul. The body is already coming and going; now it leaves without coming back.

The soul can’t leave because it has nowhere to go. This radical proposition needs a bit of discussion because, if you aren’t already going anywhere when you die, you must be there already. This is one of those paradoxes from quantum physics whose understanding depends upon knowing where things come from in the first place.

When you bring a memory to mind, you are actualizing an event. Synaptic firings produce the memory, replete with visuals, taste, and smell if you want them.

That is, you have the potential for memory, which is infinitely vaster than a single memory but nowhere in sight. This field extends invisibly in all directions; the hidden dimensions we’ve been discussing can all be explained as different fields embedded in one infinity field, which is being itself.

You are the field.

My review

I am learning a deeper understanding of men and by proxy a deeper understanding of myself. I recommend this book highly to anyone seeking knowledge of their inner-self.

Rainy Day
[info]gypsymoongirl
The Apple Orchard
Come just after the setting of the sun,
see the evening green of the grassy ground;
is it not as if we had for a long time
taken it into ourselves and saved it,
sensing it now as feeling and remembrance,
new hope, half-forgotten joys,
yet now mixed with interior darkness,
to scatter it before us in thought
under trees like those of Durer, that
carry the weight of a hundred
workdays in the overfilled fruits,
serving, full of patience, trying, like
that which all measure transcends,
is still to be lifted up and offered,
when one willingly, throughout a long life,
wants but this one thing and grows and is silent.

My Luck Has Changed For The Better!!
I won two books on GoodReads as reported. Today, I was bringing my Mom back from an appointment and we were headed back north on 27th St. and there was a sign that said Free Stuff. Got myself a sweet all-terrain bike. It's dirty and the tires need inflating but other than that it's sweet!!
Praise be to all that is Sacred in the Universe... and Keep It Coming!
Now I just need to go and do a metric-f$%^-ton of laundry... yechh...
Oh, also - I got a glove for archery - nothing fancy, just a cheap-o one. Actually, I liked the cheapy one better anyway.

There must be something going on with the stars! I feel like I'm being pulled in 8 different directions only I'm *not*. Maybe I will consult the Deb-ster on this one. I don't know. I just feel like I don't even fit inside my own skin right now. It's been back-building for a couple of days now. I thought it was the new vitamin suppliment my doctor put me on (50k IUs of vitamin D). But alas, this is not so. I've had 'spring fever' before but never quite like this. I want to run as fast as I can without moving. Argh!! I'm starting to sound like a crazy person! Maybe this tax season is taking more of a toll on me than usual. Except, I'm not sleeping more than 4 hours a night. I don't feel sapped or drained yet though so that's good. I dunno. I think something is brewing I just don't know what.
On a happier note: I joined the GoodReads online book club. They have a sub-site called First Reads. You can register to win books - I've won two of them:
Afraid by Jack Kilborn - it's a suspense novel set in (duh Duh DUH) Wisconsin...
and
Etta: A Novel by Gerald Kolpan (never heard of him). It's the story of Etta Place and Harry Longbaugh, a.k.a. the Sundance Kid.
Good luck there - this is the 1st time in my life I've ever won anything! All praise to the Gods and the Fates and ... etc.
And perhaps my luck has finally shifted as I've been Working towards! Last nights Work was very positive and very well grounded. I'm making headway FINALLY. A respectable Working. And without my altar too. I packed it up in anticipation of moving. Yeah, I'm packing already apparently. See, I'm packing yet not moving... grrrrrrr.
Today, I'm off to take Mom in for surgery. Dunno what I'm doing for the rest of the weekend other than that Mom has asked me to make "Easter Feast" this year.
I think I might do a Moon rite before I go anywhere. I'm feeling Her pull strongly today - no surprise since She went Full this morning.

WIN!!

An Announcement
Gullibles Travels
[info]gypsymoongirl
I interrupt your Journal-ing to make the following announcement:
It's starting to look like I may be moving back to the Castle.. soon-ish! There's an opening coming up in the Carriage House. It's probably even smaller than the apartment I'm in now but it's QUIET and let's face it - It's just uber-cool to be able to say "I live on the grounds of a Castle... in Nebraska".
We now return you to your regular LiveJournal viewing.

Request for Feedback
[info]gypsymoongirl
Greetings to all.
I'm posting in order to get a conversation going. This is meant to be a place to give thanks & tribute but I think it should also be a place to post requests. For example - newspapers will print thanks to Catholic Saints or place - in the classified section- prayers to Saints. You don't see it so often anymore. It was a thanks to St. Expedite over on [info]pimp_my_altar which started me off on the creation of this site. But I think there is maybe some room for requests as well. Definitely for prayers of request as (to my mind) praying is a form of adoration.

What do the community members think? Should this just be a site for giving thanks full stop?
Also, I'm a big fan of LJ cuts for posts with pictures or longer posts. What does everyone think??
I am open to suggestion.
Do we need to create Community Guidelines????

In thanks: To The Creator of All That Is! Just creating an LJ community raises a load of questions. I can't imagine creating an entire universe!!

Offerings (xpost)
[info]gypsymoongirl
This post (http://community.livejournal.com/pimp_my_altar/308345.html) inspired me to create an online environment for giving thanks.

I've created a new community:
http://community.livejournal.com/libations_etc/

and started a website:
http://offerings.webs.com/index.htm

I may need Mod type help.

**Please** comment and let me know if this post is inappropriate for this site. I will remove it as soon as I receive the comment. But I did think that folks from this site might be interested in a sort of virtual place to give thanks. I also want to say right away that these are both Religious Tolerance sites.

Link to slideshow I guess..

Writer's Block: Dream Trip

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?

View 503 Answers

I would join an archaeo dig at Herculaneum or Pompeii.
I would go to the UK and visit my friends there.
I would climb the Mayan ruins (and probably do the butt-slide thing on the way down).
I would explore the Bone Huts of Siberia.
I would give offerings at the Temple of Apollo.
But why limit yourself to just one planet?
Anyone care to go spelunking on the moon?
I've heard the moons of the Alpha Centauri system are fascinating.

If we go to Pern I want a dragon and at least 3 fire-lizards.
